Job Description

Job ID: MJ000419

About Traveloka

Traveloka is Southeast Asia's leading travel and lifestyle super-app. We connect tens of millions of travellers across the region with flights, hotels, experiences, financial services, and more — all from a single platform. Since our founding in 2012, we have expanded to eleven markets, processed billions of dollars in transactions, and built one of the most recognised consumer brands in the region.

We move fast because the region demands it. Southeast Asia is young, mobile-first, and growing faster than almost anywhere else on earth. We are not transplanting a Western playbook — we are writing a new one, from scratch, for a market that does not look like anywhere else — and we are calling for people who want to be part of that.

About the Team

The Controller team is where Traveloka's numbers become trusted. We own accounting, tax, and the controls that keep a multi-market super-app accurate, audit-ready, and compliant across eleven jurisdictions — each with its own rules, currencies, and regulators. In a low-margin industry, clean books and sharp controls are not back-office hygiene; they are how we protect every cent of margin and earn the confidence to move fast.

Here you close the books, sharpen tax positions, and build finance operations that scale with the business rather than slow it down. You will work close to the transactions that power millions of bookings, turning messy real-world complexity into reporting people actually rely on. If you take pride in precision and want your rigour to shape real decisions, this is your seat.

About the Job

  • Own the entity close and reporting process. Plan and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, ensuring complete and accurate reporting packages are submitted within agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain accounting quality. Review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate cut-off.
  • Maintain reliable balance sheets. Review monthly reconciliations, including intercompany balances, and ensure reconciling items are investigated, assigned clear owners, and resolved promptly.
  • Manage statutory reporting and audits. Oversee preparation of annual statutory financial statements and coordinate external audits, managing requests, proposed adjustments, and audit findings through to resolution.
  • Explain financial results. Prepare clear analysis of material monthly and annual movements in the income statement and balance sheet.
  • Coordinate tax accounting. Work with the Tax team on current and deferred tax provisions, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for tax filings.
  • Improve processes through automation and AI. Identify and implement practical uses of automation and AI to reduce manual work, improve reconciliations, support variance analysis, and strengthen documentation.
  • Supervise and develop the team. Allocate work, review deliverables, provide timely feedback, and develop staff capabilities. Identify capacity constraints and escalate issues early.

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • 4-6 years relevant working experience
  • Practical knowledge of IFRS and applicable local accounting standards
  • Analytical, sound time management and organizational planning skills
  • The ability to organise work around reporting deadlines, maintain review quality, and communicate issues before they affect delivery
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with finance colleagues, auditors, and business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across both public accounting and industry
  • CA, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification, completed or in progress
  • Experience supervising staff or reviewing and coaching junior colleagues
  • Experience with Oracle or a comparable ERP system
  • Experience improving accounting processes, automating recurring tasks, or working with multiple entities or currencies
