Job Description

The Senior Developer Platform Engineer role is the expert-level technical authority on a major area of Traveloka's developer experience & engineering excellence. As an independent contributor, you'll drive backend framework, libraries, and middleware programs end-to-end, from architectural design to implementation, with minimal need for oversight. You'll partner closely with product engineering teams and engineering leaders across the organization to raise the bar on quality, performance, and extensibility of application deliverables.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain reusable Java/Spring Boot starter kits, internal SDKs, and common utility libraries used across all product microservices.
• Design and integrate enterprise middleware (such as API gateway, message brokers, database proxy or service mesh components) to abstract infrastructure and platform complexity from applications.
• Optimize Spring Boot runtime performance, resource limits, and health probes inside containerized environment.
• Implement standardized logging, tracing, and metrics across all product services.
• Evangelize platform best practices, write clear documentation, and provide golden paths to product engineering teams.
• Identify bottlenecks in system integration & deployment and lead cross-functional programs that fix them for good.
• Communicate technical trade-offs and risk clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to support fast, informed decisions.

What You'll Bring

Core Capabilities

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focusing on backend and platform tooling.
• Expert in Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring Cloud ecosystem.
• Deep understanding and strong developing experience on at least one of areas including API management, service mesh and database proxy.
• Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines and API design standards.
• Practical experience applying AI-assisted tooling to coding platform and engineering workflows, with the judgment to know where it accelerates work versus where it introduces risk.
• The ability to mentor and raise the technical bar for junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, pairing, and post-mortem write-ups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; able to defend technical and cost trade-offs with data.
• Comfortable operating independently, with minimal supervision, across distributed teams.

What Makes You Stand Out

• Hands-on experience with kubernates, istio and cloud-native services.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Active involvement in server-side technology communities, conferences, or open-source contributions.
